Five rising stars from the Philippines made their mark on the regional squash scene after clinching medals at the 3rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Junior Individual Championships 2025, held from May 9 to 13 at Vajiravudh College in Bangkok, Thailand.
Leading the medal haul was Ashton Rain Medino, who delivered a gold-winning performance in the Boys Under-11 category. His victory underscored the Philippines’ growing potential in the junior squash circuit.
Inigo Xavier Jordan (Boys Under-17) and Christopher Buraga (Boys Under-19) both took home silver medals, showing grit and consistency in their respective age groups, while Lyra Kate Trasmil (Girls Under-11) and Aliyah Nicolai Gannaban (Girls Under-13) bagged bronze medals after strong showings in the early rounds.
The five-medal finish highlights the continued development of the country’s junior squash program under the guidance of the Philippine Squash Academy and support from national sports agencies.
Hosted by the Thailand Squash Rackets Association under the Southeast Asian Squash Federation, the tournament featured the region’s top young talents across various age divisions. Matches were played using the best-of-five format with international Point-A-Rally scoring, ensuring high-stakes and fast-paced action across the courts.
