A recent survey conducted by OCTA Research revealed a growing sense of optimism among Filipinos regarding the country’s economic outlook and their personal quality of life. The study, which involved face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adults across the Philippines, was conducted from December 10 to 14, 2023, and has a margin of error of ±3% at a 95% confidence level.
According to the survey results, 38% of adult Filipinos anticipate that the national economy will improve in the next six months, marking a significant increase from 27% in October 2023. Conversely, the proportion of those expecting the economy to worsen dropped from 14% in October to 8% in December. A majority of 51% believe the economic situation will remain stable.
The optimism was notably high among respondents from the upper socioeconomic classes, with 51% of those in Class ABC expressing positive expectations for the economy. Geographically, Northern Mindanao exhibited the highest optimism rate at 66%, while the Davao Region recorded the lowest at 10%.
The survey also highlighted expectations regarding personal quality of life, with 49% of participants expressing optimism, a significant rise from 34% in October. The Visayas region showed the highest optimism level at 58%, while Mindanao had the lowest at 40%. Pessimism about quality of life saw a slight decrease, from 7% to 4%.
