A 32-year-old Filipino man was apprehended by Honolulu Police on Sunday after an alleged attempt to hijack a car in the Ala Moana area, leading to chaos on the streets. Island News reported that suspect Travis Coloma’s actions resulted in a six-car collision near the intersection of Ke’eaumoku Street and Kapiolani Boulevard. The tumultuous scene was captured on video by concerned citizen Jodi Asano, showing police vehicles in pursuit of Coloma, who was eventually subdued following a brief scuffle.
Records from the Honolulu Police Department indicate that Coloma has several pending cases and outstanding arrest warrants. He now faces multiple charges stemming from Sunday’s events, including carjacking, reckless driving, and resisting arrest. Coloma is currently in police custody awaiting further legal proceedings.
