A 26-year-old man from Lapu-Lapu City received P10,000 for being the oldest participant in the “Operasyon Libreng Tuli” (Operation Free Circumcision) held on Friday, June 21.
The man, identified as Alfredo Jr. from Barangay Basak, was among the 1,350 individuals who benefited from the free circumcision event. Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan personally handed the cash prize to Alfredo.
“Alfredo is very lucky. Aside from becoming a real man, he also got P10,000,” Mayor Chan remarked, expressing his amusement and pride in Alfredo’s participation.
According to a Manila Bulletin report, the event, supported by volunteer schools and the Department of Health-Central Visayas, saw a large turnout. Binibining Lapu-Lapu 2023, Cheron Kisses Co, was also present to assist during the circumcision process.
Participants were treated to free ice cream and burgers at the Hoops Dome in Barangay Gun-ob, creating a festive atmosphere.
The initiative, themed “Transforming lives, one cut at a time,” began on June 14. Due to its success, another Operation Tuli is scheduled for June 28 in nine different areas across the city.
