Sharjah Police successfully dismantled a drug smuggling operation that attempted to bring over 226 kg of narcotics into the UAE by concealing them inside marble stones. The operation, dubbed ‘the destructive stone,’ led to the arrest of three individuals of Asian nationalities, who were reportedly working under the direction of international drug dealers.
The Anti-Narcotics Department, under the leadership of Colonel Majid Sultan Al-Asam, initiated the operation after receiving intelligence about the gang’s activities. The police closely monitored the suspects, uncovering their connections to regional and international drug networks. The gang’s unconventional smuggling method involved hiding hashish, psychotropic substances, and other narcotics within marble slabs, which were shipped to the country in an effort to avoid detection.
Thanks to the vigilance of Sharjah Police, the plot was foiled, and the suspects were apprehended before the drugs could be distributed. Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, commended the team’s efforts in preventing the smuggling attempt and emphasized the ongoing commitment of Sharjah Police to safeguard the community.
