A 20-year-old student in Masbate City succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds after a barangay watchman, reportedly intoxicated, shot him allegedly for being noisy. The incident occurred in Barangay Espinosa at the boarding house where the student was visiting a classmate.
Investigations reveal that the altercation began when the student, due to his loud behavior, attracted the attention of the 27-year-old watchman. Angered by the noise, the watchman lingered outside the house, monitoring the activities within. Upon seeing the student descend to the ground floor, the watchman entered the premises and followed him to the restroom, where he then shot the student several times.
According to Police Lt. Col. Ariel Neri, chief of police in Masbate City, the suspect lay in wait for the victim inside the boarding house, ultimately confronting and shooting him in the restroom. The victim sustained injuries in various parts of his body.
The assailant was promptly arrested, and the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting was seized by authorities. He is now facing a murder charge.
