A two-year-old girl in Abu Dhabi is learning the value of sharing at an early age, thanks to her very thoughtful and generous parents from the Philippines and working in the capital.
Sharing is definitely a way of showing love; and at 2, Atarah Kate Dalupan has already learned this during a gift-giving she participated in and spearheaded by her parents during the Eid Al Fitr celebrations in the UAE.
In a short vlog shared on her YouTube channel, Atarah was seen preparing hampers to be given to the residents of Al Ghadeer Community in the capital last April 28, 2022.
“We always admire the courage and the dedication of Muslims, especially during Ramadan. We admire how they practice self-discipline and sacrifice,” Atarah’s mother, Jill Dalupan, told The Global Filipino Magazine.
Jill, who works in an oil and gas company as a secretary, said that she and her husband, Ian, who works as an IT engineer, always remind Atarah to be kind to people and always share her toys with her playmates.
Before the Eid Al Fitr break, she recalled asking Atarah if she would like to give food to people in their neighborhood.
“She said yes and even told us that we have some water and cupcakes in the kitchen. We are actually surprised that she’s aware of what food to give at her very young age,” Jill said.
Atarah excitedly asked her parents to prepare their Eid gift-giving drive right away.
“In the middle of preparation, I once asked her that maybe we can just eat it instead of giving it to the people just to know how dedicated she is and we are not wrong. As parents, we are happy and proud that at her age, she knows how to share and care for people; she inspires us,” she added.
Jill hoped that her daughter would carry on this good deed as she grew.
“It is also a reminder for us parents that you don’t need to be wealthy or rich to be able to help others, it is totally ok because even small help matters,” she further added.
