185,000 new jobs projected in Dubai’s aviation industry by 2030, study reveals

Dubai’s aviation sector is projected to add 185,000 jobs by 2030, increasing the total workforce in aviation-related activities to 816,000, according to a new report by Emirates Group and Dubai Airports. The study, conducted by Oxford Economics, highlights that aviation currently supports 631,000 jobs in the emirate, equivalent to one in five jobs.

By 2030, this figure is expected to rise to one in four, with jobs supported both by the aviation sector’s direct impact and its role in boosting tourism. Direct employees in Dubai’s aviation sector earned AED 23 billion in 2023.

Expansion plans, including the development of Al Maktoum International Airport, will be key drivers of this growth. The upcoming airport, set to become the world’s largest, is expected to generate an additional 132,000 jobs by 2030 and contribute AED 6.1 billion to Dubai’s GDP.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and chief executive of Emirates Airline and Group, emphasized in a Khaleej Times report the sector’s ongoing growth and its crucial role in Dubai’s economic expansion.
