A recent survey by Social Weather Stations (SWS) revealed that 18 percent of Filipinos claim to have no love life, highlighting a decline in relationship satisfaction.
According to the poll released on Tuesday, only 46 percent of Filipinos described themselves as “very happy” in their romantic relationships—marking a record-low level in two decades. This figure dropped by 12 percentage points from 58 percent in December 2023. Meanwhile, 36 percent said they believe their love life could be better.
The survey also found that happiness in relationships decreased among both men and women, with the sharpest decline seen in men with live-in partners.
When it comes to expressing love, most Filipinos prefer acts of service, such as cooking, running errands, and helping with chores. This ranked as the most common love language, followed by words of affirmation and quality time, both at 51 percent. Giving gifts and physical touch ranked lower at 33 percent and 29 percent, respectively.
Ahead of Valentine’s Day, 19 percent of respondents said they wished for love and companionship as a gift, surpassing money, which was the most desired gift in the previous year.
The survey was conducted from December 12 to 18, 2024, through face-to-face interviews with 2,160 adults nationwide, with a margin of error of ±2 percent.
