17 Filipino workers from Israel to return to Philippines on October 18

Seventeen Filipino workers based in Israel are set to arrive in the Philippines on October 18, according to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW). DMW Spokesperson Toby Nebrida confirmed the news to INQUIRER.net on Monday.

These workers fall under the purview of the Philippine Embassy in Israel and the Migrant Workers Office in Tel Aviv. “They are due to leave [Israel] on October 17 and will reach Manila the following day,” Nebrida explained.

The repatriation plan originally scheduled eight of these workers to return on October 16. However, changes led to their flight being combined with others, resulting in a consolidated group of 17 returning workers. Most of these returnees are employed as caregivers and hotel staff in Israel.

The DMW has yet to provide further details regarding the repatriation or specify the kind of support that will be extended to these workers upon their arrival.

In related news, Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega mentioned that repatriating Filipinos from Israel is less complicated than from the Gaza Strip.
