15 Asians arrested in UAE for impersonating officials in phone fraud scheme

Ajman Police have apprehended a group of 15 individuals for conducting phone scams by impersonating officials and deceiving victims into revealing sensitive banking information.

According to a Khaleej Times report, the suspects, all of Asian nationality, used fraudulent tactics to convince victims to update bank details or official documents, ultimately stealing their money. Authorities were alerted to the scam through reports of suspicious phone calls made using SIM cards registered with forged data.

Following a thorough investigation, officers arrested the gang and seized 19 mobile phones used in the fraudulent activities. Colonel Ahmed Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, confirmed that the suspects admitted to the crimes and are now in custody, awaiting legal procedures.

Colonel Al Nuaimi urged the public to remain cautious and report suspicious calls. He emphasized that banks never request personal or banking information over the phone and advised customers to update such details only in person at their bank’s branch.

He commended the swift action and expertise of the Criminal Investigation Department, whose efforts led to the gang’s arrest.
