Dubai commuters can now enjoy improved convenience with the installation of 141 new bus shelters across key locations, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) revealed on Sunday. This development is part of a broader plan to establish 762 bus shelters across the city by the end of 2025.
The newly added shelters serve multiple bus routes, with some accommodating over 10 routes at a single location. Once the project is fully implemented, these shelters are expected to benefit over 182 million riders annually.
Currently, 40% complete, the project incorporates modern designs and user-friendly features, including designated spaces for wheelchair users in line with Dubai’s accessibility standards. Additional amenities such as air-conditioned waiting areas, shaded outdoor spaces, and digital screens displaying schedules and route information will enhance the experience for riders.
Shelters have been strategically placed in densely populated and essential areas, prioritizing locations with existing infrastructure to maximize availability. The RTA categorized the shelters into four levels based on daily usage, ensuring tailored solutions for varying commuter needs
