Donnerick Morales, a 13-year-old baking prodigy, has won the hearts of netizens and customers alike, boasting monthly earnings in the five-digit range.
Morales embarked on his baking journey at the tender age of six. Inspired by his mother and influenced by baking videos on social media, he baked his first cake for his brother’s birthday. This personal project soon evolved into a flourishing business. “I started baking when I was a kid. I was taught by my mom and watched baking videos online. After my brother’s birthday, orders started coming in, and that’s how my business grew,” Morales shared with The Philippine STAR.
With roots in the culinary world – his mother runs a catering service and his father once managed a bakery – it’s clear where Morales got his entrepreneurial flair. He reminisced about his early days, “At nine, I baked cookies and cupcakes, and eventually, occasion cakes. My mom set up a special kitchen for me when my orders increased, and I’ve been reinvesting my earnings back into my business.”
Balancing school and business, Morales attributes his success to adept time management. He explained, “I sell cakes and cookies in school. I tackle school activities early so I can focus on orders when I get home, and I also bake over the weekends.”
In a remarkable achievement for his age, Morales secured a contract with a Tagaytay City hotel last year, a venture in which his parents played an instrumental role. “It’s mostly just me running the business, but when orders become overwhelming, my mom hires an assistant. I’m deeply grateful for the unwavering support from my parents and family,” he expressed.
Highlighting his financial accomplishment, Morales said, “My earnings usually range between P25,000 to P30,000, depending on the volume of orders. This income has not only been beneficial for me but also helps my parents with our bills.”
Morales’s expertise has earned him acclaim, especially for his wedding cakes. “Event coordinators often admire my work. I feel immensely proud when people appreciate what I create at such a young age,” he beamed.
With an eye on expansion, Morales is gearing up to launch his own cake shop and café in Cavite by Christmas. “I aim to inspire young individuals like me,” he confidently stated.
