Thirteen distressed overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and ten children are finally on their way home to the Philippines, thanks to the assistance of the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Jeddah. The repatriation, completed through close coordination and proper case handling, marks another milestone in the government’s ongoing support for Filipinos in distress abroad.
The group, composed of individuals with varied personal and employment-related cases, was among those given priority under the MWO’s repatriation program. Working closely with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), the office ensured that all necessary travel documents and exit clearances were completed before the flight.
Aside from travel processing, the beneficiaries were also provided with temporary shelter and basic assistance during their stay in the custody of MWO Jeddah. Those eligible received SAR 750 in financial aid before boarding their flight home.
According to the MWO, this mission was more than just about returning people home. “Ang mahalaga, makabalik sila sa pamilya nang ligtas at may dignidad,” the agency said, emphasizing that their service to OFWs extends “hanggang sa boarding gate, at hanggang sa pag-uwi sa Pilipinas.”
