The UAE’s aviation industry has crossed a major milestone, with over one billion passengers recorded between 2015 and 2024, according to data released by the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre. Aircraft movements also soared, exceeding 6.4 million during the same period.
The Centre’s report revealed that the country saw its airport passenger traffic jump from 114.8 million in 2015 to 147.8 million by 2024. These figures include arrivals, departures, and transit passengers, reflecting the UAE’s rapid rise as a key global aviation hub.
In terms of aircraft movements, more than 800,000 were logged in 2024 alone, pushing the total number over the past decade to a staggering 6.4 million flights.
The UAE also achieved top global recognition, clinching first place in the air transport quality index and ranking among the top ten globally in five other key aviation indicators.
Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism and Chairman of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), credited the country’s leadership for the sector’s steady rise. He emphasized that national strategies and forward-looking initiatives have enabled the UAE to “continue shaping the future” of global air travel while delivering strong results.
“These achievements reinforce the UAE’s standing on the global aviation and travel map,” Al Marri said, adding that the sector plays a critical role in fueling economic growth and strengthening national competitiveness. He also highlighted the UAE’s approach to aviation—one that merges sustainability, innovation, and high service standards.
